OVER 700+ SOLD!  BEST SELLING, SMARTLY DESIGNED AND BEST VALUE.<br>This item is a replacement gear for a<br>Hunt Boston Model 18 or 19<br>Electric Pencil Sharpener.<br>Colour: white.<br>Diameter: 2.125"<br>HISTORY<br>In 2013, the plastic gear in my kids’ Model 19 Pencil Sharpener broke in half and lost some of its teeth.  Having recently purchased a 3D Printer and looking for a meaningful project, I set out to reverse engineer the broken gear.  Knowing that the reason for the gear breaking over time is its close proximity to the drive motor and its exposure to constant heat, I decided to improve upon the original gear design.<br>IMPROVED DESIGN & MATERIAL<br>The following improvements are incorporated to the<br>design<br>of the<br>new gear:<br>-Spokes that double as Fan blades to blow some air on the motor and cool the chamber.<br>-Lighter yet sturdy gear with the spoke design compared to the original.  This lessens the load on the aging motor in spinning the gear, increasing its life.<br>-Symmetrical Gear that produces very little vibration as the inertia of the gear is distributed evenly.  Compared to similar gears in the market, the fan blades are spread out evenly (no heavy side).  Unevenness in a rotating gear will add vibration wherever the heavy part of the gear is at when it’s spinning.<br>-PETG plastic - same durable plastic used heavily in drink bottles food safe containers.  It’s now readily available and affordable which makes for the price of this gear very competitive.<br>PROVEN & TESTED<br>The new and improved gear has been working well on our Model 19 for since 2013 and has sharpened numerous graphite and coloured pencils.  I have a video of this gear in operation; please contact me if you would like to see it.  Each gear is batch tested to fit in our Model 18/19<br>INSTALLATION<br>The additional images in this listing show the sequential removal/installation of the sharpener gear.  Once the old gear is removed, orient the new gear the same way as the original (round hole first) then simply slide the new gear into the slot.
