This is a rare single-page advertising handbill (flyer) promoting the Monday, May 24th, 1999 appearance of Broadway Superstar ALAN CUMMING for a Q & A and signing at Barnes and Noble Booksellers on Broadway at 66th Street in New York City. Alan Cumming was currently starring as the Encee in the Roundabout Theatre revival of the JOHN KANDER and FRED EBB musical hit "CABARET" at Studio 54 (aka "The Kit Kat Klub) in New York City. (The production opened March 19th, 1998 at Henry Miller's Theatre, moved to Studio 54 on November 12th, 1998 and ran for 2377 performances.) ..... During the almost six years of the show's run, the musical starred ALAN CUMMING, MICHAEL C. HALL, NEIL PATRICK HARRIS, RAUL ESPARZA, ADAM PASCAL, JON SECADA and JOHN STAMOS as the "Emcee" and NATASHA RICHARDSON, LEA THOMPSON, BROOKE SHIELDS, MOLLY RINGWALD, JANE LEEVES, MARY McCORMACK, JOELY FISHER, KATIE FINNERAN, DEBORAH GIBSON, GINA GERSHON, JENNIFER JASON LEIGH and SUSAN EGAN as "Sally Bowles" ..... DETAILS: Advertising handbills (heralds) were distributed or inserted into the playbills of other productions to help generate ticket sales for upcoming shows and events. This single page, one-sided handbill measures 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" inches and includes an image of "The Illustrated Book and Lyrics of 'Cabaret'" and signing details on the front. The backside is blank ..... CONDITION: This flyer is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
