This is a rare May 10th, 1887 program from the one-night, Complimentary Testimonial commemorating C. W. COULDOCK, on the 50th Anniversary of his first stage appearance at the Star Theatre in New York City ..... The evening opened with a performance of the Third Act of the William Shakespeare tragedy "HAMLET" starring Mr.
EDWIN BOOTH in the title role and followed with the Screen Scene from the Richard Brinsley Sheridan classic "THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL" starring Miss FANNY DAVENPORT, Mr. JOHN GILBERT and Mr. ROBERT B. MANTELL. A recitation from Trowbridge's "THE VAGABONDS" by Mr. C. W. COULDOCK himself was followed by the Quarrel Scene from Shakespeare's "JULIUS CAESAR" starring Mr. LAWRENCE BARRETT as "Cassius". The evening closed with the Third Act of Richard Brinsley Sheridan's "THE RIVALS" starring Mr. JOSEPH JEFFERSON, Mr. JAMES O'NEILL, Mr. KYRLE BELLEW, Mr. G. W. DENHAM, Mrs. JOHN DREW and Miss ANNIE ROBE ..... DETAILS: The four page program measures 6 1/2" X 8 1/2" inches, is printed on a card stock and includes beautiful cover graphics, production and cast credits and a list of the members of the committee including Lester Wallack, Edwin Booth, Edward Harrigan, Joseph Jefferson, Tony Pastor and Lawrence Barrett ..... CONDITION: With the exception of the start of splits at the seam and tape residue at the top of the back cover (fourth scanned image), this rare program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
