This is a rare "GOTHAM LIFE" from the week of May 17th, 1936 (Volume XXXI, No. 52) featuring JANE COWL on the front cover. She was starring in the Original Broadway production of the GEORGE S. KAUFMAN and KATHARINE DAYTON comedy "FIRST LADY" at the Music Box Theatre. (The production opened November 26th, 1935 and ran for 246 performances.) ..... Published as "The Official Metropolitan Guide" for more than a quarter century, "GOTHAM LIFE" was the weekly Guide to Theatrical and Musical Entertainment, Films, Museums, Restaurants and included reviews of new Broadway Plays and the calendar for current Broadway offerings ..... Includes a wonderful HAROLD K. SIMON illustration (fourth scanned image) of TAMARA GEVA, RAY BOLGER and DORIS CARSON, the stars of the RICHARD RODGERS and LORENZ HART musical "ON YOUR TOES" at the Imperial Theatre ..... CONDITION: With the exception of minor wear along the seam and light soiling to the back cover, this rare magazine is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
