This is a rare souvenir program which was sent to Tony Awards voters in consideration of the Broadway revival of the RICHARD RODGERS and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II musical "THE SOUND OF MUSIC" at the Martin Beck Theatre in New York City. (The Original Broadway production opened November 16th, 1959 at New York's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre and ran for 1433 performances. This revival opened March 12th, 1998 and ran for 533 performances.) ..... The musical starred REBECCA LUKER as "Maria" and MICHAEL SIBERRY as " Captain Von Trapp" and featured PATTI COHENOUR, JAN MAXWELL, FRED APPLEGATE, PATRICIA CONOLLY, SARA ZELLE, DASHIELL EAVES, JOHN CURLESS, RYAN HOPKINS, NATALIE HALL, MATTHEW BALLINGER, TRACY ALISON WALSH, ANDREA BOWEN, ASHLEY ROSE ORR, JEANNE LEHMAN, GINA FERRALL, ANN BROWN, TIMOTHY LANDFIELD, RENO ROOP, GANNON McHALE and LAURA BENANTI (making her Broadway debut) ..... BONUS: Includes a letter (second scanned image) that accompanied the program which was sent to Tony Awards voters. The revival of "The Sound of Music" received one Tony nomination for "Best Revival of a Musical", but left the Awards show empty handed
..... CONDITION: This program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
