    This is a rare advertising handbill (flyer) promoting the Pre-Broadway engagement of the JOHN COLTON and CLEMENCE RANDOLPH play "RAIN" at the Chestnut Street Opera House in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania beginning February 1st, 1935. (The revival would open February 12th, 1935 at the Music Box Theatre in New York City and run for only 47 performances.) ..... Based on the W. SOMERSET MAUGHAM story, "Miss Thompson", the play starred TALLULAH BANKHEAD as "Sadie Thompson" and featured ELIZABETH DEWING, K. A. This single page, two-sided handbill measures 5 1/2" X 9" inches and includes production credits, performance dates and a photo of Miss Bankhead on the front and a full page photo of the star on the backside ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a vertical fold and minor edge wear, this rare handbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
